10 Hour battery my a** July 23, 2010 TBR (New York, NY) After reading the rave reviews here about battery life, I decided to splurge the extra $35 to get this model for the beefier battery. As soon as I got the computer, I resisted the urge to just plug it in and play with it, and made sure I fully charged it (to properly season the battery). As of now, I've fully charged and discharged the battery 3 times as recommended by Acer, but the best charge I can get is about 6.5 hrs. Worried that I may have gotten a lemon, I called Acer customer service and was told by their representative that this battery is only meant to last 6.5 hours--not the 10 hours as advertised on pretty much every website including amazon.com! The computer itself is not bad, although the Windows 7 Starter is pretty annoying after using Home Premium on my desktop, but I guess thats Microsoft's way to coax those additional nickels and dimes from their loyal customers. The misleading battery life is a dealbreaker for me, so I guess this one will be going back to the factory to be resold as a refurb later on down the road.
Acer Netbook Computer July 10, 2010 Nick 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I order a Acer Netbook computer and it arrived about 7 days later. It never worked from the beginning, so I called Acer for support. They instructed me to send it to them. I have not heard from them since and it has been over 2 weeks now. I tried to contact them several times, but have had no sucess getting through. I called Amazon and they said that there is nothing they can do either. I now have a $300 bill and no computer. I am currently looking into other options to take action against the very poor service I have recieved by both Amazon and Acer.
Good value with minor issues June 15, 2010 Len in Sacramento (Sacramento, CA) This Acer model is a good value with the 250GB hard drive and longer life battery. The surface picks up fingerprints quite easily. The USB slots are a little tight. I purchased the recommended Crucial 2GB RAM upgrade because the 1 GB RAM standard made the processing slow, especially booting up. The Crucial module was a very tight fit but with enough pressure it finally seated. 2 GB RAM definitely made a difference.
Acer netbook better than expected June 13, 2010 John C (Orange County, NY, USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
It is a bit slow at times, but with only one gig of memory it is expected. It is a very well built unit, the touch pad is excellent, I like the gestures, the display is very clear, the wireless internet is better than average, I would recommend it.
Very happy with it in 3 months June 11, 2010 Freedom for All 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Works great, I like the price, battery life is over 8 hours (not sure how much exactly)I just close it without turning it off, come back a week later and battery is still as charged as I left it. This little netbook and Windows 7 do a good job saving battery.
