| Customer Reviews: There's a reason why it's inexpensive.... May 11, 2010 Steven W. Kennedy (Cleveland) Acer offers an extremely substandard product, with even more substandard customer support. I've got 8 usb ports, none of which have ever worked reliably. Repeated calls and service within the warranty period failed to rectify the problem, and once the warranty expired, they attempted to charge me for repairs, even though they never fixed the problem to begin with. While it's not uncommon for companies to "hire out" phone service represenitives to non-english speaking countries, Acer's customer support personnel are the most unintelligibly-speaking people I've ever been forced to deal with.
If I could give this product less than 1 star, I would have. My advice is to avoid all Acer products AT ALL COSTS.
A useful little machine February 14, 2010 Simon Fraser (NYC) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
A very practical little PC, I'm impressed with the performance for something so affordable. Just bear in mind that there is very little expansion possible with a case this small. It has numerous different interfaces however, so that's not so much of a problem. The case itself looks fine from a distance, but the plastic feels very cheap and I doubt that it will cope with much use before the doors break off. The Mouse and Keyboard are similarly cheap feeling, but I've replaced them with some more robust ones that I have lying about. Also bear in mind that it's a side mounted DVD drive, so you need to be careful when the disks go in and come out that they don't end up on the floor.
I'm fairly impressed with this machine, it handles pretty much everything I've thrown at it with grace. It runs older games very nicely ( Half Life 2 , Bioshock ), I've not tested anything more recent. Recommended.
My review for the Acer Aspire X1301-U9032 January 28, 2010 Robert C. Hamel III (NJ) This is a good computer. Plenty of hard drive space and ram for your everyday home office use. Lots of USB ports for all your needs and accessories. A few cons that I have are: the cheaply made cd door and open button which can be overlooked by the great price of this computer. It has been working flawlessly so far for me. However, the main issue I have is with the power button. It does not always turn on the computer on my first attempt. Most of the time it takes several tries before it works. On occasion it will take me several minutes for it to work. For the great price of this computer and its good performance so far, I do not regret purchasing this computer. I think it is a good computer, but has its issues.
Good for computer for a teenager January 21, 2010 Mozzz79 I got this computer for my 14 year old brother who had been using a gateway from 1995. With this said, this computer does what it needs to do beautifully. It was an easy set up, it came with windows 7, it has everything a 14 years old needs who is not a soon to be Bill Gates. It's fast, it can work multiple programs at once without slowing down. It's small in size and does not take up too much room. The only complaint I have is that it does not come with a windows 7 back up disc or a monitor.
Terrible Tech support! January 7, 2010 Joseph Gaines (Texas) 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have had this Acer X1301 for less than a week, and already Acer wants to charge me for phone support!
Cannot believe it! Sorry I bought this unit. I do not appreciate having to pay for warranty work over the
phone!
